We had a fantastic holiday in Hong Kong and New Zealand from late January to early March 2025 (just over 5 weeks).

The purpose of this blog is to hopefully share useful information and perhaps help other people plan their next vacation. When we were planning, I found lots of useful information on Facebook groups, google searches etc and thought it would be good to provide some ‘giveback’ in a consolidated blog now that we have returned to the UK.

We have included maps for New Zealand to show our routes as well as an itinerary which links to posts which we hope you may find useful.

This is not a commercial site, just personal feedback and somewhere that we can hold memories of a great vacation.

Hong Kong and New Zealand

We stopped at Hong Kong for four days on our way to Aukland, New Zealand and then had a 33 day road trip around in New Zealand.

4 days in Hong Kong

We loved Hong Kong! Everyone was so friendly and the city was clean and safe. The architecture is stunning with a transport infrastructure that made travel around the island very easy. We were fortunate to be there for Chinese New Year so enjoyed New Years Day fireworks and the New Year's Parade.

33 days in New Zealand

We hired a Motor Home in Christchurch and returned it there after 14 days. We then flew to Aukland and hired a car for 19 days then flew back to Heathrow from Aukland.
